As a company involved in Austin-Healey’s since 1972, we have
acquired a wealth of knowledge and experience regarding Austin-Healey body
panels and sheet metal products, and the difficulties in sourcing them.
Recognising a gap in the market, A H Spares set up their
sheet metal manufacturing unit, A H Panels in 2003 to ensure the products we
supply are of consistent high quality. Our time-served craftsmen are highly
skilled in all aspects of sheet metal fabrication including Wheeling, Jig
Chasing, Coach building, TIG & MIG welding.
We continue to invest in A H Panels by working through our
tooling and jigs, ensuring all are correct so products are produced to the best
quality. To do this, we have scanned several original cars so CAD designs could
be drawn up and analysed before we continued with the tooling. We then used
reverse engineering to design the tools necessary to manufacture our body
panels. Tolerances and alignments were assessed ensuring that our panels would
fit together without much need of adjustment.
So far we have produced new tooling for our 3000 bonnet, rear
shroud (with interchangeable sides so we can produce BJ7 & BJ8 from one
tool) and for the 100/6 & 3000 front shroud. These have been surfaced and
introduced to the moulds; ensuring effective tools so that the manufacturing
function is correct, product lifecycle is extended and makes for a higher
quality product overall.
Over the past couple of years we have been devoting our time
to manufacturing inner bodies for the Austin Healey which are now in
production. Our future goal is to supply and fully panelled Austin Healey
bodyshell in the coming months. Watch this space!!!!
By combining the latest technology and equipment with
traditional metal working practices, we can fabricate practically anything guaranteeing
high quality parts for the Austin Healey Spares market.
