Reconditioned exchange front lever arm shock absorber for Austin Healey BN1 to BJ8 models. It retains the original flat-top body style fitted throughout Big Healey production, making it the straightforward choice where the original shock absorber profile and wheel arch clearance are to be retained.
Supplied on an exchange basis, the unit is reconditioned for continued use with the standard Austin Healey front suspension.
Original Austin Healey BN1 to BJ8 front shock absorbers used a flat-top body. Unlike the later turret-top design used on new replacement units, this profile sits beneath the inner wheel arch without the additional clearance requirement associated with the taller turret body.
This makes the reconditioned flat-top unit particularly useful on cars that have not previously been modified to accept turret-top shock absorbers.
Fits Austin Healey BN1, BN2, BN4, BN6, BN7, BT7 and BJ8 models with the standard front lever arm suspension.
Check the mounting hardware, suspension bushes, trunnions and surrounding suspension components while the shock absorber is removed. Wear elsewhere in the front suspension can affect damping, steering and ride quality even when the shock absorber itself is working correctly.
Mounting hardware is not included unless stated separately.
This is an exchange unit, so the old front shock absorber must be returned in accordance with the exchange conditions. The reconditioned flat-top option allows the original-style body configuration to be retained rather than changing to the later turret-top replacement.
