This complete set of four high-compression pistons is made for Austin Healey 100 BN1 and BN2 engines being built to the 8.6:1 piston specification of this 100M replacement range. Supplied in standard size with piston rings, gudgeon pins and circlips, it is intended for engines retaining the standard cylinder bore.
This set provides the high-compression piston option for a 100M or high-compression Austin Healey 100 engine rebuild, rather than the standard-compression BN1-BN2 piston specification.
The pistons, rings, gudgeon pins and circlips are supplied together for all four cylinders, avoiding the need to source the individual piston assembly components separately.
The cylinder bores should be measured before ordering. The final installed compression ratio can also be affected by cylinder-head chamber volume, gasket thickness, deck height and previous machining, so these should be considered during the engine build.
Choose the standard-size set only where measurement confirms that the cylinder bores remain suitable for standard-size pistons. Oversize versions are available for engines requiring a rebore.
A piston ring compressor is available separately to hold the piston rings in their grooves while the piston is installed into the cylinder bore.
