Austin Healey Kevlar Bottom Hose - With Heater - BN4-BJ8

Big Healey
Part no:
CHT114K
Product name:
Austin Healey Kevlar Bottom Hose - With Heater - BN4-BJ8
Additional information:
Description:

Hand-made in the UK from Kevlar-reinforced rubber. This bottom radiator hose suits Austin Healey BN4 to BJ8 models where a bottom hose with heater take-off is required. The reinforced rubber is chosen to cope better with temperature fluctuations than standard hoses, and the heater take-off is re-engineered with a brass fixing to reinforce a common weak point at the small pipe joint.

Key Benefits

  • UK made – produced from Kevlar-reinforced rubber (K suffix).
  • Heater take-off version – for cooling layouts that feed heater plumbing from the bottom hose.
  • Brass-reinforced heater joint – strengthens the small pipe connection where leaks can develop.
  • Chosen for durability – designed to cope better with temperature fluctuations than standard hoses.

Will this fit my car?

Fits: Austin Healey BN4, BN6, BN7, BT7, BJ7 and BJ8 where the cooling layout uses a bottom hose with heater take-off.

Excludes: BN1 and BN2. Not suitable for BN4-BJ8 cars that use the no heater take-off bottom hose configuration. Not suitable for non-standard cooling conversions that change hose routing or connection sizes.

Fitting notes and limitations

  • Confirm the car uses the heater take-off bottom hose configuration before ordering.
  • Inspect radiator and engine spigots for corrosion or pitting that can prevent sealing.
  • Check the heater take-off connection and ensure the hose is fully seated before tightening the 1/2 inch clip.
  • Tighten clips evenly and recheck after the first full heat cycle.

FAQs

How do I know if I need the heater take-off bottom hose?

If a smaller heater hose connects at the bottom hose, the heater take-off version is required. If the bottom hose has no small hose connection, use the no heater take-off version instead.

What does the brass fixing do?

It reinforces the small heater pipe joint, which is a common weak point on bottom hoses with take-off connections, helping to reduce the risk of leaks at that joint.

Which hose clips should be used?

Main hose ends can use Jubilee or O.E. double wire clips. The heater take-off joint uses 1/2 inch clips. Correct sizing and even tightening matter more than clamp style.

Should clips be rechecked after fitting?

Yes. Recheck clamp tension after the first full heat cycle.
