This OE-type starter cable assembly fits the Austin Healey Sprite MK1 Frogeye and operates the under-bonnet starter switch from the dashboard. It has the correct-style black pull knob with a white “S” marking and a revised 21.5-inch inner cable, providing enough working length to secure and test the cable before trimming any excess.
The original factory inner cable was only just long enough. If the end became frayed during installation or adjustment, the retaining grub screw at the starter switch could struggle to hold the cable securely.
The revised cable can be routed, secured and tested before any excess length is removed. This gives the grub screw a clean section of cable to grip and reduces the risk of the cable pulling free, which would otherwise prevent the starter switch from being operated from inside the cockpit.
Route and secure the cable before shortening the inner cable. Check that pulling and releasing the dashboard knob operates the starter switch correctly. If trimming is required, remove only the unwanted excess and leave sufficient cable for the grub screw to grip securely, taking care not to fray the cut end.
Fits Austin Healey Sprite MK1 Frogeye models with the original pull-start arrangement. The same model is commonly known as the Bugeye Sprite in North America.
The matching Austin Healey Sprite Frogeye OE-type choke cable assembly is also available for cars requiring both dashboard control cables.
