Description I bought the car in 2004. The bodywork was excellent but not
the mechanicals. The car has been completely restored over the years though, as
every classic car owner will know, this is an infinite process. The engine,
gearbox and overdrive were rebuilt by Rawles, including a new crankshaft,
‘fast’ aluminium cylinder head, larger carbs (H6), front disc brakes, and a
limited slip differential with a raised ratio: the car now cruises beautifully
at 70 (2300 rpm). 130 bhp (M spec; rolling road). Both suspensions were replaced; a collapsible
steering column was fitted. The wire
wheels were replaced by chromium-plated ones (48 spoke). It has a stainless-steel exhaust system. Rawles
also fitted a new hood, tonneau (mohair) and re-upholstered the seats (leather). The car has been sound-proofed (Dynamat) and fitted with LED lights throughout.
Numerous other improvements. It does about 300 miles per year. Kept in
dehumidified and heated garage, it is serviced annually. Tip-top condition. |
